Did you plan to make the low-tide crossing ahead of time?

    • Well I planned to get there for lowest tide to have the best chance. The official advice is to only cross one hour either side of low tide but not after heavy rain. It was raining hard that day and being alone I didn’t want to take any chances and was quite prepared to walk inland to the nearest bridge. In the event although very cold (the water comes from dartmoor) and quite wide the river wasn’t deeper than knee height so I felt comfortable crossing alone.

That’s some serious planning ahead as it looks quite the walk to the nearest bridge 🙂 Thankfully I’ve only had to make water crossings on sunny days and not in the rain!

Whether you have comments on the photos, some knowledge or a personal story on this area you’d like to share, or you’ve spotted a typo or error, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
