Soaked through but happy to be in the Kintyre peninsula and away from busy road walking.
The first couple of hours in a downpour are a honeymoon period for waterproof clothing when they actually work. After a few hours I find you end up soaked no matter what you wear. On days like this remaining warm and dry over hours of heavy rainfall is impossible so I aim to remain warmish and damp through movement and layering.

Hope Arran reappeared by morning. When living on the Ayrshire coast my brother used to tell his kids ‘ Arran’s sailed away ‘. Next day it would be so clear you could see the houses. Great area in any weather
It did indeed and what a great phrase your brother used. The Island has been a companion for months since first seeing it on the Ayrshire coast. I shall miss its changing moods and dramatic outline.
