Due to the remoteness of the North side of Ardnamurchan I’m carrying a paper map as backup to the digital version I normally navigate with.
Camp at Mingary by Loch Sunart. The days are so short I’m starting and ending under torchlight. This is 8.30am and it’s only just bright enough to see.
I remember walking that section which cuts across the moorland away from that big loop on the road. There lots of deer about. At the end of the day I counted 10 ticks had attached themselves to various parts of my lower anatomy. Serves me right for wearing shorts.
That’s a lot of ticks! I’m thoroughly weary now as when I got to Glenelg a tick bite had developed a rash and I was put on a course or antibiotics. They are hard to spot when wild camping especially when washing is a rarity!
