Day 296: Coire nan Cnaimhean to Ullapool – beside Loch Broom

Ross-shire - West, Scotland

Date of walk: 22/4/19

Morning on the Scoraig peninsula, Wester Ross, Scotland.

Feeling lightheaded, angry and exhausted after seven hours toiling over the pathless moors, I’m frustrated to find I’ve only progressed 10km in all that time. My last bag of rations for this eighteen-day section is down to half a broken oak cake and a smidge of peanut butter, and I’ve 24km more to go to get to Ullapool and the nearest shop. Everything became timings and points to aim at for a five-minute rest to get through the day.

Surely the smallest sandy beach in Scotland? Ideal for introverts! 200 metres up at Locan nam Badan Boga in the Scoraig Peninsula.

As rations run low just the basics left.

Strong sun on this exhausting section.
